Xplora 1 is much more than a mere multimedia interpretation of an audio CD and it fully reflects Peter Gabriels' enduring love of world music. In addition to the jam session you can find out about musical instruments from all over the world and even try playing some. There are eight in total, which have been specially sampled, including a Chinese two-stringed fiddle known as the Er Hu and a Darabuka, an Egyptian claydrum. You may not be able to 'rock out' exactly, but it's great fun nonetheless.

Extending the interest of world music even further, providing you've already picked up the appropriate pass during your travels around the disc, there's a chance to pay a behind-the-scenes virtual visit to the WOMAD festival. Because you're a guest of Peter Gabriel you've no need to mill with the throng and you are afforded access to all areas. So nip off backstage as often as you fancy. Similarly, the once in a lunchtime opportunity to swan around at the Brit Awards and the Grammies is also on offer, but you'll once again have to have the relevant passes to explore.
